Lauren Amalfi Coast Travel Consultant

  • EXPERTISE | Naples, Salerno, Amalfi Coast + the islands of Capri, Ischa and Procida

PROFILE | Lauren is a dual citizen of the US and Italy; she grew up between the desert of the U.S. Southwest and the warm sea and cliffs of Positano. Lauren has spent years as an artist creating jewelry for Positano’s top hotels. In high season, she and her partner run a boat company in Positano, unveiling to travelers and friends the Amalfi’s well known sights but (more importantly) the secret gems, known only to the locals.

Lauren is Fluent in English and Italian, and has connections on the Amalfi with everyone from the region's elite to the locals on the dock.

Lauren is passionate about showing travelers “La Dolce Vita” and to help them have an incredible Italian experience. She currently lives on the Amalfi Coast’s Sorrentino coastline with Capri as her backyard.

Italy has so much to see and do, how do you suggest people plan their trip? I have observed people take two kinds of vacations in Italy; the tourist vacation that focuses on seeing the historic sites or the vacationer who is trying to experience the Italian lifestyle. I believe there can be a mix of both, but this requires managing expectations and having a plan of action.

This is particularly important in southern Italy, which is not known for being organized. I think it is best to decide your vacation goals beforehand so your trip can be enjoyable, memorable and not stressful running from place to place. Knowing where to visit and the best way to travel there will enable you to discover the best that Italy has to offer.

Italy vacations can be expensive! How do you suggest getting the most value on an Italian getaway? I think it is important to know where to splurge and where to save when traveling in Southern Italy. There are many Michelin star dining restaurants which will not disappoint, but equally delicious are the many local vendors providing traditional family dishes, good wine and a view at a fraction of the price. that coupled with a good local wine and perfect view of the sea will prove to be equally memorable.

Italian designer shops can easily be found, but there are also many local clothing shops whose talents have been passed down generationally. You can hire a private driver to take you to your destination or use the many local water jets for far less money, less traffic and a view of the coast.

I believe a mix of both will provide you with the best of both worlds, cost average down your expenses and leave you with what is truly free; ignited senses and memories that will stay with you for a lifetime.

  • “I met Martina and she was incredible!! Super super knowledgeable about Italy (Milan, Lake Como, Cinque Terre) and it was soooo nice having an Italian give me the green light on what areas to stay, how long to spend in each area, how to get around—I feel like i just saved myself hours of googling and reading blog posts with one 40-minute conversation!! Highly recommend!!!”

  • “My husband and I recently worked with Lauren, a concierge specialist at The Citrine Compass. WOW! I am giving five stars across the board. Lauren was terrific, warm and friendly, and SO knowledgeable about the Italian Riviera areas we were looking into for a memorable trip in Italy. My husband and I prefer to travel off the beaten path and find an area's less popular hidden gems. Lauren immediately understood what we were looking for and offered great advice on transportation, hotels, under-the-radar locations, and restaurants. Lauren gave us information on private boat tours and how to travel from place to location. After our consultation, Lauren followed up with a summary of the insider information she shared. I highly recommend using The Citrine Compass and if you are going to Italy, Lauren is the person you want to connect with.”
