SPAIN

HOLA, MI AMOR!

Simply said, Spain is spectacular. From its glittering coastal towns of the South to the moody Basque country in the north, we just can’t get enough. Spain is also a vast country with a ton of amazing terrain to cover and trying to plan a trip there, whether it be your first or fiftieth, can be totally overwhelming.

Our locally-based Tastemakers are absolutely in love with Spain and can’t wait to help you have the Spanish experience that you’re craving, whether that be sunning yourself on the tiny island of Menorca or road tripping along the rugged coastline of Galicia the northwest.

No matter which path you choose it looks like classic vino tinto, delicious tapas and rich culture are in your near future.

Fatima Spain Travel Consultant
  • EXPERTISE | Madrid, Food + Wine, High End Hospitality

PROFILE | Fátima is a native Spaniard, born and raised in Madrid. Her career began in advertising and events but 10 years ago, she decided to become an entrepreneur and launched a travel business helping clients create tailored experiences in and around Madrid, the Basque Country, Barcelona, Andalucía and more.

She resides in Madrid with her family; her three teenage children keep her busy but she greatly enjoys their company. She is incredibly passionate about her city and Spain and loves to help visitors create highly tailored experiences as they explore Spain's rich heritage, warm sun, amazing nightlife and spectacular food.

Which museum in Madrid do you love most? The Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum is one of my favorites; I always leave feeling like my cup has been filled.

Any local spots you adore in Madrid? I love going out with my husband to the bar at Taberna Laredo on a Saturday. You can enjoy amazing wine and the most delicious and sophisticated tapas.

What is the best day trip from Madrid? If you have the time to spare, take the fast train to Toledo and immerse yourself in a historic city where people of Christian, Jewish and Muslim faith coexisted. It has a very interesting history and is strikingly beautiful perched on a hill.

Melissa Mateus Spain Travel Consultant

  • EXPERTISE | Barcelona

PROFILE | Melissa is a Colombian American that grew up in Texas and traveled to many countries before making the scariest (and best!) decision of her life to move to Spain. Barcelona has been Melissa’s home for the past 3.5 years where she works as a community manager and social strategist for a start-up beauty brand.

She is absolutely in love with Catalonia’s amazing cuisine and rich culture; when friends and family make the trip to visit her, she makes sure they fall in love with Barcelona just like she did. She knows planning a trip to Spain can be overwhelming so she is ready to help guide you through your trip around this gorgeous country.

She can often be found exploring Spain with her boyfriend and their mini dachshund, Boga.

What makes Barcelona so unique? Barcelona is a city that has so much to offer but the standout for me is that you can enjoy the beautiful mountainside and the ocean in just one day! Spend the early afternoon soaking in the amazing view of Barcelona from the top of Tibidabo mountain and visit one of the many wineries. Then head down to the beach later in the afternoon to catch the sunset on a boat ride or enjoy an Aperol Spritz with a traditional Spanish paella right on the beach.

What do you recommend visitors do in Barcelona? Walking around El Born, the Gothic Quarter or La Barceloneta are all their own unique adventures. You feel like you’re taking steps back in time when you walk along the narrow medieval streets, surrounded by historic locations like Els Quatre Gtas where Picasso used to spend leisurely hours drinking coffee or the Kiss Wall made up of several thousand small images of and about Catalans as they fought for their independence during the Franco era. You can also find unique shops from local designers and the most amazing coffee shops and tapas restaurants.

And she curated it to exactly the type of things we love to do most. I am so excited! My mom and I talked after and decided we will absolutely use your service for our next trip.”
